Capt. Tom Tatoosh & Family. He's been involved is sustainable fishing since the age of 15 and is an Aboriginal and Commercial Harvester. Also featured were Mica Verbrugge & Victoria Lake. EatCanadianSeafood (processing plant) patronized by Jon Crofts of The Codfather Seafood Market, the Okanagan's most respected fishmonger proving that local & sustainable seafood is not just for coastal communities.
Evan Scoffings, the skipper/ diver is a second-generation geoduck licence holder. Evan's father-in-law, Steve, owns the licence, a former diver who has been in the industry since it started in the 1980s. Diver is Mike Hackert, First Nations & second generation diver. Mike's dad is a licence holder and diver. Tender Paisly is new to the business but her hard work got her promoted to the boat.
Peter DeGreef, is a long standing Tuna (and other species) Fisher. He is a Director of the B.C. Tuna Fisherman Association and the Canadian Highly Migratory Species Foundation. Peter bought his Dad's boat when Pops retired. Also featured as he hosted the Family Meal at his home: Lorne Clayton, Executive Director, Canadian Highly Migratory Species Foundation.
Bob Fraumeni, President & CEO (Founder), Finest At Sea Ocean Products Ltd. and an original founding member of the Sablefish fishery & Association. By age of 11 he had own boat in Victoria, now has a few 100 employees, back in 1970 there was a lot of money to make. At 17 he discovered Sablefish ( aka Black Cod) and he was hooked.
Captain Luong Cao comes from a fishing family as his father still captains a boat. Lost his brother at sea. We celebrated with Chef Dai Fukasaku, he's a renowned sushi chef whose 14 seat restaurant caters to discerning diners but has no dress code.
